When you want something, when you really, really want something,
it's always a good idea to try to make it happen. I did and I
have and I'm thrilled to talk about it finally!
It all started when I was sitting in a restaurant in Winnipeg
during the summer, eating alone as I was away on a business
trip. Well, not really alone, since I had my laptop open in front
of me and was reading inspirational business advice as is often the
case (in this case it was
Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lessons). Kelly was
talking about how she had wanted to meet other strong women
who were creative entrepreneurs who were going through the same
things as she was. So she set up a retreat with a friend of hers,
and the women that met together that first year
became life-long friends and support systems for each
other.
I was struck really hard by that. My skin went all goosebumpy, my
eyes welled up a bit, and my heart starting singing. Yes! I want
this too!
So I sent Deanna an email right then and there, letting her know
that I wanted to set up a retreat, with her by my side. It was a
bit of a rambling email (well, a lot) but it was straight from
the heart. I wanted to set up a meeting that would be a welcoming,
comforting, all-inclusive style of get-together where several
creative entrepreneurs could get together and learn from each
other. We'd talk about creativity, about our successes, our
failures, our creative and entrepreneurial desires. We'd build a
community of strong women that we could count on, be there for, and
go through this crazy journey together.
Deanna wrote back right away with a huge YES!

Spark, the

Fe, New Mexico from May 3-7, 2012 at the GORGEOUS
